As an alumni of Western Sydney University, I was very proud to host my alma mater's Solar Car Team's screening of their film 'Race Towards Tomorrow' in Parliament on the 12th of May. The film displayed their submission in the 2023 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge. This is an international challenge which requires teams to drive their cars from Darwin to Adelaide using their solar‑powered vehicles, travelling a total of 3022 kilometres. The team is a prime example of the STEM leaders developing in the Western Sydney region and has proven their place and their worth as the number one Australian team in the 2025 race. I thank all the panelists; Professor Alphia Possamai-Inesedy, Professor Richard Yang, Mr. Rohan Hungerford, the attendees, and the WS Solar Car Team. It is clear to me that the potential and the capability of Western Sydney has risen to an international level and will continue to promote origins, beginnings and achievements from backgrounds which I myself can relate to.
