Across Western Sydney, young girls with big ideas and sharp minds are already shaping themselves as the next generation of leaders in science and technology. That was clear at Western Sydney University's Girls Tech Day, held last December at the Camden Civic Centre. The event provided a hands-on, confidence-building space where students could explore STEM, ask bold questions, and see themselves as future innovators. With women still significantly underrepresented in Australia's technology workforce, programs like this play a crucial role in breaking down barriers and expanding what young girls believe is possible. Girls Tech Day brought together hundreds of students from equity-priority schools across Camden, Campbelltown, and neighbouring communities, connecting them with industry leaders, educators, and inspiring role models. Through practical learning and real-world exposure, students gained insight into pathways across fields such as AI, cybersecurity, and advanced manufacturing. As Western Sydney continues to grow and transform, empowering young women with the skills, confidence, and opportunities to lead in technology is essential, not just for equality, but for the strength and future of our economy.
