I recognise the announcement that passenger operations at Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport will commence in October 2026, with freight operations targeted to commence in July. This is a significant milestone for communities across Western Sydney and, in fact, the entire nation. The airport will be a transformational asset, boosting connectivity, creating jobs and supporting local growth. Stage one is expected to handle up to 10 million passengers a year. Passenger numbers will grow to 80 million over the following decades. Importantly, it complements broader transport and economic developments, including the toll-free M12 motorway linking the airport to the broader road network and providing opportunities for residents and businesses across Western Sydney.
