Vesak Food Fair 2026

14 May 2026

Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of attending the joyful Vesak Food Fair hosted by Pal Buddhist School in Austral. It was a fantastic community event celebrating one of the most sacred occasions in the Buddhist calendar. Vesak marks the birth of the Buddha, his Enlightenment, and his passing into Parinibbana, while also serving as a time for reflection, compassion, generosity, and bringing people together through kindness and service. The event featured an incredible range of delicious dishes prepared by the school's students, along with vibrant cultural performances and a Student MasterChef-style cooking competition that showcased creativity, teamwork, and the importance of right livelihood. Congratulations to the winners of the 2026 Right Livelihood Competition, Yuuna, Oscar, Amyra and Jayden. It was wonderful to see students developing important values such as responsibility, accountability, discipline, and integrity through the competition. It was also a great honour to meet monastics from Mahamakut Buddhist Foundation, Bodhisaddha Forest Monastery, and Wat Buddhalavarn. This event truly reflected the school's dedication to nurturing young people through the values of morality, discipline, and wisdom. Congratulations and thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a meaningful success.
