On 8 March I was honoured to attend the launch and opening of the new science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics building, the Astrolab, at Unity Grammar College in Austral. I may be biased, but I believe that the students in my electorate of Leppington are among the brightest and most innovative, and this facility is set to bolster their potential even further. The Astrolab is designed to inspire students from years 7 to 12 through state-of-the-art spaces dedicated to science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. It features advanced classrooms, science labs, robotics and design workshops, and studios for art, drama and music. While encouraging a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, the development will not only improve our educational offerings but also strengthen ties with leaders in higher education, business and government. With the Western Sydney airport and aerotropolis only a few years away, it is important that we start developing those skills in our leaders of tomorrow now. The Astrolab truly symbolises Unity Grammar's commitment to high-quality education and readiness for the future in south-western Sydney.
