On June 13 I visited Thomas Hassall Anglican College in my electorate. A K-12 school established in the year 2000, it has gone from being a small school surrounded by open farmland, to being a large campus now entirely surrounded by housing. I met with student leaders from the primary and secondary schools to discuss their role as school leaders and field questions on the life of a local MP. I also had the pleasure of popping in to see the year 5s who were presenting their solar system display projects to parents, teachers and fellow students. Instead of the usual solar system project, students were challenged to formulate and research their own solar system related questions. Honourable mentions include "What if the earth was donut shaped," and "What if the Solar System had no Gravity." The imagination and creativity of the students was inspiring and thought provoking. Thank you to Principal Ross Whelan for having me. Your hospitality and service to both the school and wider community is warmly recognised.
