I was honoured to attend the annual celebration of the Sri Ramcharitmanas Institute, which celebrated the achievements of the late Pundit Vishnu Prasad Kashyap. Formed in 1988 with a vision of recognising the challenges faced by migrants, the institute has strived to balance and promote cultural heritage within the distractions of a new life in the West. The late Pundit Kashyap, whose legacy can still be felt today, was the founding advocate of this movement. I always feel a powerful sense of welcome whenever I attend any of their functions, and this one was no different. The work of Pundit Kashyap certainly has gone a long way towards creating strong bonds around multiculturalism, connection and understanding in my electorate and beyond. Today, the institute stands as a testament to his vision and commitment. It enriches lives through timeless wisdom. I thank everyone at the institute, including my good friend Yogi Kashyap who is now the president, for a wonderful celebration.
