What a year it has been for the Southern Districts Raiders men's team. After being knocked out 5-0 by Macarthur FC in last year's Australia Cup, the Raiders returned with something to prove this year—and, boy, did they prove it! They knocked out the two-time Australia Cup winners on penalties in an incredible round of 16 clash in another cup-set. Now in their second appearance on the national stage, the boys earnt an Australia Cup quarter-final against Sydney FC in probably what is the biggest game they have ever played in. The turnaround is a credit to the hard work, resilience and belief shown by the entire team and their head coach, Goran Ljuboja. It also reflects the people standing behind those players—the coaches, volunteers, families, supporters and everyone at the club—who puts in the work away from the spotlight. I congratulate the boys and everyone at Southern Districts Raiders on their hard work not just this year but over the decade or so that they have been working up to this point. Whatever comes next, the community is very proud of them, and they have done exceptionally well.
