I honour the remarkable Shirley Connolly, OAM, affectionately known as "Mrs C". Sadly, Shirley passed away on 4 June. Shirley was the heart and soul of the Campbelltown District Netball Association for over 30 years, earning recognition at local and State levels. As a foundation member of the Campbelltown Sports Foundation, Shirley played a pivotal role in establishing the South West Sydney Academy of Sport. Her dedication to women's sport in the Macarthur region earned her multiple community service awards from Campbelltown council, and the Netball NSW Anne Clark Service award in 2000. Shirley's impact on netball administration was profound. Her belief that "if your community provides a service, you should give something in return" was evident in everything she did. Despite not playing netball herself, she saw its value through her daughters and tirelessly promoted the sport. In 2021 Shirley was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for her outstanding contributions to netball. Her dedication and community spirit will be deeply missed. Vale, Mrs C.
