While no doubt many members in this Chamber spent last Friday with their dear loved ones for Valentine's Day, I instead spent the evening with the Shahid Afridi Foundation at Liverpool Catholic Club where, once again, it held its annual fundraiser. The mission of the Shahid Afridi Foundation is to spread education, healthcare services and access to water across Pakistan in order to empower underprivileged communities for a better future. I have been attending its annual fundraisers for a number of years, and it has been fantastic to see the work it is doing on the ground. After the devastating floods in 2022, it raised tens of thousands of dollars. On the evening, the foundation showed us 100 new houses it has built in a village that was completely wiped away just two years ago. It is fantastic work. I congratulate everybody in the organisation and everyone who made a donation on the night.
