What started eight years ago with a passion for lion dancing has grown into something pretty special. Co-founded in 2018 by Kelvin Tran and Kenrick Cheah, Qing Fong grew from their shared passion for lion dancing and a desire to pass that tradition on to a new generation. Since then, countless hours of training, rehearsals and performances have transformed a local team into a troupe representing Australia on the world stage. Behind every performance is enormous dedication. It takes strength, discipline, trust and teamwork, but most importantly, it keeps a proud cultural tradition alive and passes it on to another generation. That is something I have had the privilege of seeing firsthand, with my daughter now part of the Qing Fong troupe. I have seen the friendships, hard work and sense of family that exist behind the performances. From local competitions to ones around the world, Qing Fong continues to make our community proud, recently finishing fourth at the 2026 Taoyuan International Dragon and Lion Dance Competition. Congratulations to Kelvin, Kenrick, the performers, coaches, volunteers, parents and the entire Qing Fong family on eight incredible years.
