It was a privilege to join the Consul General, the Hon Margaret Beazley AC KC, Charishma Kaliyanda MP, Mark Buttigieg, members of the Pakistani-Australian community and dignitaries to celebrate Pakistan's 79th Independence Day at Fairfield Showground. Pakistan Azadi Mela was a great showcase of Pakistani culture, with traditional food, music and performances throughout the day. It was also a chance to meet local businesses and community organisations and hear more about the work they do. Events like this bring people together to celebrate culture and traditions, while sharing them with the wider community. It was a fantastic day and an opportunity to recognise the contribution Pakistani-Australians make to our local communities and across NSW. Thank you to the Federation of Pakistan Australia and everyone involved in organising Pakistan Azadi Mela 2026 and bringing families, friends and the wider community together for the celebration.
