I acknowledge the devastating tragedy in North Macedonia, where a horrific fire at a nightclub in the town of Kočani has claimed the lives of at least 59 people and injured over 150 others. The blaze, which broke out during a concert attended by hundreds of people, has left families shattered and a nation in mourning. Our hearts go out to the victims, their loved ones and all those affected by the unimaginable loss. Here in New South Wales, we stand in solidarity with our strong and proud North Macedonian Australian community, many of whom have deep ties to their homeland. The North Macedonian community has made invaluable contributions to the communities in south-west Sydney, including in my electorate of Leppington. We know this tragedy is deeply felt. I extend my deepest condolences to all those who are grieving and reaffirm our commitment to standing in solidarity with our North Macedonian community during this very difficult time.
