Last week we marked National Volunteer Week 2025, celebrating the incredible power of volunteering to bring people together under this year's theme, "Connecting Communities". Volunteers are the heart of our neighbourhoods, building bonds, offering support and creating lasting change where it is needed most. I had the privilege of visiting the Vinnies Service Centre in Mount Pritchard to witness firsthand the extraordinary work their volunteers do each day across the communities of Fairfield and Liverpool. From sorting and supplying essential furniture, clothing and household goods to supporting families in crisis, their impact is both immediate and life changing. Vinnies centres not only provide affordable essentials for people, but every dollar made is reinvested directly into support services for those doing it tough. It is a model of compassion powered by volunteers who give their time, heart and energy to keep our community standing strong. I give my sincerest thanks to every volunteer.
