On April 28, I was pleased to attend the Multicultural Eid festival and Fair at Fairfield Showground. This is the 38th year that the festival has been on, confirming the strong multicultural links and celebration in our community. The festival brings together thousands of Sydney residents from more than 35 communities across the city and is a joyous celebration following the religious holiday Eid‑al‑Fitr, which is an important cultural event for Muslims marking the end of the fasting month of Ramadan. The day was marked by numerous traditional folk dances, songs and plays on the central stage celebrating many cultures from our community. It was a wonderful day for families to enjoy, with delicious food, rides and various stalls, including one featuring the Members of Leppington and Liverpool. It was a true testament of multiculturalism at its best and the vibrant community of South- Western Sydney enjoying a community day out.
