I acknowledge a remarkable young athlete in my electorate, Meray from the William Carey Christian School. Earlier today the school's year 11 legal studies team visited Parliament. Recently competing at the NSW All Schools Secondary Swimming Championships, Meray delivered an exceptional performance against some of the State's most talented young swimmers. Her results included podium finishes in the 100 metres freestyle, the 50 metres breaststroke and the 100 metres breaststroke, along with personal best performances across the entire competition. Through her dedication, discipline and commitment to improvement, she has earned qualification for the National Schools Swimming Championships in three events: the 50 metres breaststroke, the 100 metres breaststroke and the 100 metres freestyle. That is a tremendous achievement and reflects the hard work she has invested in the sport. Further recognition of her character and leadership has come through her nomination for a leadership position within the New South Wales schools swimming team at the national championships. She is a wonderful example of sporting talent emerging from my community, and I wish her the best.
