Mary Immaculate Primary School Artemis II

07 May 2026

One small step for Mary Immaculate Parish Primary School, Eaglevale, and one giant leap for school pride. I am thrilled to recognise the school's connection to NASA's Artemis II mission, an extraordinary initiative linked to humanity's return to deep space exploration. An inspired teacher, Mr Steve Edwards, whose passion for astronomy and space travel became a powerful learning opportunity for his students. Through a NASA program inviting names to be placed aboard the Artemis II mission, Mr Edwards submitted the school's name and received a boarding pass in return. This sparked curiosity and excitement across the entire school community to engage more deeply with science, space, and discovery. The school's name travelled aboard Orion, launched by the Space Launch System, before returning to Earth as part of a historical time capsule housed permanently in a NASA museum. This is a wonderful example of how educators can bring their personal passions into the classroom to create meaningful, memorable learning experiences that inspire the next generation.
