Although I couldn't be there in person, I want to acknowledge the significance of the inaugural Mandaean New Year Festival held on 19 July at WoodPark Park in Liverpool – a truly momentous celebration for the Australian Mandaean community. This festival is more than just a day of celebration – it's a powerful expression of culture, identity, and resilience. It brings together families, community leaders, and friends from all walks of life to honour centuries-old traditions and share them with the wider community. From delicious Mandaean food and live music, to rides, carnival games, a petting zoo, and a spectacular fireworks finale – this event had something for everyone, and stands as a beautiful example of what multicultural Australia looks like at its best. Thank you to Mandaean For Life for organising such a vibrant, inclusive event. I look forward to joining you at future celebrations.
