On Friday 14 July World Cup fever came to Leppington with the arrival of the Korean Republic Womens team, the Tigers of Asia. The team were based for a couple of days at Thomas Hassall Anglican College at Middleton Grange in my electorate. The stay commenced with a welcome ceremony which I was privileged to attend along with College Principal Ross Whelan. Congratulations to Principal Ross Whelan and everyone at the school for organising such a professional and world class operation for the Korean team. The grounds were in exceptional condition, putting them on par with anything we are likely to see through the tournament. Credit to grounds keeper Jason Swan, Coach Sonny Makko and the team. Thank you to all the staff and players from Korean Team including captain Kim Hye-ri and coach Colin Bell. The stay left such as impact that following the visit, many from Leppington, myself included, have adopted the Koreans as their second favourite team after the Matildas.
