Earlier this month I had the pleasure of attending the Heroes with Ability Sports Gala at the Michael Clarke Recreation Centre. Heroes with Ability is a local charity that provides an inclusive program to cater for the health and wellbeing of people living with disability. The sports gala day is an annual event where over 100 participants representing seven NRL clubs battle it out for the Afford Heroes with Ability Shield. While I have attended many of these events over the years, this was extra special as it was my first as member for Leppington. Congratulations to this year's winners, the Raiders. I give a big shout‑out to Afford for making a difference in so many people's lives and for its vision and mission of disability inclusion and empowerment. Thank you to Marco, George and the team at Heroes with Ability for the event. I thank also special guests and new Heroes with Ability ambassadors Will Penisini from the Parramatta Eels and Jelisa Apps from Channel 10.
