Hafsa Faizan

05 February 2026

I am beyond proud to recognise Hafsa Faizan from Unity Grammar in my electorate, who was yesterday named a finalist for the NSW Women of the Year Awards 2026 in "The Ones to Watch" category. I had the pleasure of meeting Hafsa late last year, and even then it was clear that she is a thoughtful, confident and deeply motivated young person who is going to do great things. At just 13 years old, Hafsa has already achieved more than many do in a lifetime. She was selected as a TEDx speaker and spoke about the importance of artificial intelligence in education and inclusive learning for all children. She has shown real leadership through environmental advocacy, helping lead a campaign against bilge dumping, and co-creating a children's book to raise awareness about toxic waste in our oceans. Hafsa is also a longstanding member of her school's robotics team, generously coaches younger students and was recently selected to join the 2026 NSW Youth Advisory Council. I congratulate Hafsa.
