Friends of India Blood Drive

12 November 2025

Each year, Friends of India - an inspiring, volunteer‑led organisation steps up to serve our community through compassion-driven initiatives, from environmental action to life-saving blood drives. One of their most meaningful efforts is the Appu Memorial Blood Donation Drive, held annually in Liverpool in honour of beloved Indian Kannada actor, Dr. Puneeth Rajkumar, who passed away tragically young at just 46 years old. Since its inception, this heartfelt tribute has led to over 83 blood and plasma donations, supporting more than 300 patients in need, as reported by the Red Cross. This year alone, 16 generous donations were made, each one offering people the chance to give back in the most human way - by helping save a life. Thank you to Vinod and the entire Friends of India team for creating a space where compassion turns into action, and for empowering our community to show up for one another in such a powerful way.
