On May 14 I had the pleasure of popping into Horningsea Park to visit our local firefighters on Fire and Rescue NSW Open Day. Across the State, Fire and Rescue NSW opened the doors to stations to give locals the chance to meet their local firefighters and take part in firefighting demonstrations, station tours and safety presentations. I was at Station 007, Horningsea Park, in my electorate to say hello and thank the team for the amazing work it does to keep us safe. Stations were open to 2.00 p.m. and the sausages were sizzling. I take this opportunity to acknowledge International Firefighters' Day, which is observed each year on 4 May. Our firies deserve to be recognised and celebrated for the incredible work they do. It can never be recognised enough that they put their lives on the line to protect the community. I thank Metropolitan South Zone Commander Superintendent Gregory Wright and all the firefighters who serve our community.
