It is a great privilege to wish my dear friend Dr Bushra Alobaidi a happy eightieth birthday, which she celebrated on Monday this week. As a pivotal member of the Iraqi Australian University Graduates Forum [IAUGF], established in 2008, Dr Bushra has dedicated herself to uniting the Iraqi community in Australia and aiding the integration of Iraqi graduates into Australian society. Under her leadership, the IAUGF has played a crucial role in supporting Iraqi professionals, and guiding them through university processes, training programs and recognition bodies. The forum actively promotes women's rights and celebrates their contributions, while also highlighting the achievements of Iraqi artists, writers and intellectuals through many cultural events throughout the year. Dr Bushra's commitment to overcoming division and fostering sound social relations has significantly enhanced the ability of Iraqi people to engage with the broader Australian community.
