I'd like to acknowledge Denzel Adveinto, a Year 10 student from St Anthony of Padua Catholic College, who recently travelled to the Philippines for the Manila Basketball Tour of 2026 with Homegrown Basketball Australia. Homegrown Basketball Australia supports players of all skill levels and creates overseas opportunities for young athletes to develop their game. Through its NBTC program and partnership with Filipino stakeholders, players are given the chance to compete in front of scouts and experience high-level international basketball. Denzel competed in the Global Hoops International Showcase, the NBTC Finals and the Manila Live tournaments, facing strong international competition alongside his Homegrown 16U teammates. Together, they secured a place in the Top 16. I'm sure he enjoyed the tour, both on and off the court, including the opportunity to experience Filipino culture with his teammates. Congratulations to Denzel on this outstanding achievement. He has represented his school, his community and young Australian athletes with pride on the international stage.
