Clancy Students Korea Open Taekwondo

16 September 2025

Recently at Clancy Catholic College two young individuals travelled to South Korea to train with the Prestigious Hanseong High School, which is known for being the top private boys' school of taekwondo. I would like to take a moment to recognise year 9 student Eli and Year 10 student Jack, who recently represented Clancy on the international stage. This was an incredible opportunity to develop their skills alongside some of the best athletes in the world. After the training camp, they both competed in the Korea open, one of the largest international taekwondo tournaments. Eli faced strong competitors from Japan and Kazakhstan, gaining valuable experience. Jack achieved an incredible result, defeating a South Korean athlete in the quarterfinals, then earning a bronze medal after a tough semi-final match against a two-time World Champion from Mexico. I am so proud of the talent being shown in my electorate. Amazing efforts Eli and Jack!
