On Saturday 2 September I was treated to a fantastic evening at William Carey Christian School for the closing night of its production of the Roald Dahl classic book turned stage musicalCharlie and the Chocolate Factory. For a week-long run the kids at William Carey transported audiences to a world of pure imagination, full of fun, colour and, most importantly, chocolate. I give a special shout-out to year 11 students Tara Chapman and Matilda Turnbull, who alternated in the role of Willy Wonka, as well as year 7 students Phoebe Ridikas and Charlize Sansone, who shared the titular role of Charlie Bucket. They led a multi-talented ensemble and serve as a reminder of the wealth of talent in my part of the world. Another special mention goes to producer Brom Morphett and directors Laura Neggo and Cain McCleary. It is the dedication of staff like these that enables such high-quality productions to take place.
