I recognise the contribution of RFS volunteers who give their time to protect lives, homes and communities. I recently had the privilege of joining the Catherine Field Rural Fire Brigade to officially open its new $3.3 million station. Serving our community since 1964, the brigade now has 38 members and responds to an average of one incident every day. The new facility will provide it with a modern base to continue its very important work. I also congratulate the brigade on placing third overall at the recent NSW RFS State Championships in Dubbo, with Captain Troy Fisher named best overall firefighter by the event marshals. During the opening of the new station, it was also an honour to celebrate four members who were recognised for their dedicated service: Andrew Macdonald, who has served for 38 years; Steve Marriott, who has served for 30 years; Clayton Crawford, who has served for 23 years; and Zuhdi Khraim, who has served for 12 years. Those achievements reflect the deep commitment and care the Catherine Field brigade has for our community. I thank every member for their service and for keeping our community safe.
