I was honoured to attend the Camden RSL Anzac Day dawn service. An event that holds a profound place in the heart of our community. It symbolises deep respect and remembrance for the sacrifices made by our servicemen and women. As the first light of dawn broke over Camden, close to 5000 residents gathered in solemn unity at the Camden Bicentennial Equestrian Park to honour the legacy of the ANZACs. This poignant event commenced with the traditional dawn service, an evocative ceremony featuring the laying of wreaths, the haunting sounds of the Last Post, and a reflective minute of silence. These rituals not only pay homage to the fallen but also remind us of the enduring spirit of courage, mateship, and resilience that define our national identity. Following the service, attendees shared stories and camaraderie at the RSL club, reinforcing community bonds, fostering a deep sense of belonging and collective memory.
