I was pleased to recently attend the inaugural Bowled Over Diabetes charity cricket match between the Sabeel-e-Mustafa SAW Foundation and the Diabetes Centre foundation. The match was organised to highlight the importance of managing diabetes and to encourage healthier, more active lifestyles within our community. The Diabetes Centre and Sabeel‑e‑Mustafa Foundation are non‑profits dedicated to educating the public about diabetes while providing vital health services and support. The event brought people together through sport, including the Consul General of Pakistan in Sydney, bringing attention to not only the challenges posed by diabetes but also a new diabetic hospital currently being built in Pakistan. After being at the crease for about an over on the day, I realised I will be sticking to giving speeches in this place and not taking up a professional cricketing career. I thank the organisers, players and volunteers for creating such a wonderful event for an important cause.
