It was a privilege to attend the Bangladesh Association of Australia's (BAOA) annual dinner and cultural night in July this year. Established in 1971 during the Bangladesh Liberation War, the Association worked alongside government and prominent Australian figures to improve the welfare and provide humanitarian aid to people in Bangladesh during difficult times. For the past 55 years, the association has grown into a distinguished body that preserves cultural pride and heritage in multicultural Australia. The Association provides a platform for the Bangladeshi Australian diaspora to have a shared sense of belonging and support, as well as contributing to community initiatives in the broader Australian society. Bangladeshi Australian families, community leaders, young people and dignitaries came together in celebration of Bangladesh's history of resilience and continued action to promote unity, preserve cultural identity, empower youth and enhance civic engagement. This is demonstrated through their initiatives including Independence Day, International Mother Language Day, Bengali New Year, networking forums and more. I sincerely thank the Association for having me and congratulate them for their significant achievements.
