It was an honour to take part in the opening ceremony of the 2025 Australian Sikh Games at the Crest Sporting Complex in Bass Hill on 19 April alongside my colleague the member for Riverstone. The extraordinary event was more than just a showcase of athletic talent; it was a powerful celebration of community, culture and connection. Over three days, more than 150,000 athletes from across Australia and around the world came together to participate in and cheer on a wide range of sports, united by the spirit of teamwork and mutual respect. The Australian Sikh Games offer a unique space in which cultural heritage and healthy competition thrive side by side, bringing together families, athletes and community leaders in a shared experience that strengthens social bonds. Events like that are vital to the fabric of our society. They promote inclusion, wellbeing and pride in our diversity. The games are a shining example of how sport can bridge communities and celebrate all that unites us. I congratulate everyone involved in the games.
