Austral Public School

17 September 2025

Twelve talented students from Austral Public School recently performed at the iconic Sydney Opera House as part of the New South Wales Festival of Instrumental Music, joining over 500 recorder and 100 string players from across the State. It was a proud moment for our community, with these young musicians representing south-west Sydney with heart, skill and confidence on one of the world's most famous stages. This achievement is a credit not only to the students' dedication but also to the nurturing support of Austral Public School. In just 18 months, under the guidance of Mrs Carter and Mrs Mayorga, these year 3 to 6 students have grown into remarkable performers. There is something special about seeing it come full circle—Mrs Carter once performed at the Opera House as a student and now leads our future musicians. As the school celebrates 133 years of inspiring young minds in Leppington, it has made the entire region proud.
