African Australian Youth Summit 2025

19 November 2025

When you give young people the space to thrive, they do. That's exactly what I witnessed at the launch of the African Australian Youth Summit on 8 November at Western Sydney University, Parramatta. Hosted by the African Australian Advocacy Centre, the summit was an influential and uplifting event dedicated to empowering young African Australians. With the theme "I See Me - Thriving", the event encouraged young people to see themselves as leaders, changemakers, and valued members of their communities. It was all about belief, opportunity and connection, and the energy in the room made it clear just how much that matters. The day featured youth-led panels, interactive workshops, and honest, solution-focused conversations. From leadership and mentoring to breaking down barriers in education and employment, the summit tackled big issues with real action in mind. We also enjoyed some brilliant live performances, which served as a reminder of how music and art are vital parts of identity and community. Thank you to the African Australian Advocacy Centre and every young voice that made the day meaningful.
