2023 NSW Training Awards - Fatusama Fuamatu

21 September 2023

I recognise the achievement of Fatusama Fuamatu at the 2023 NSW Training Awards. Fatusama was nominated as a finalist in the School Based Apprentice/Trainee of the Year award. Fatusama moved to Australia from Samoa four years ago and took up barbering to support his family back home while studying at Eagle Vale High School, where he is now vice captain, in my electorate. Mastering the art of barbering through our fantastic TAFE system, Fatusama has applied his skill for good, volunteering to give haircuts to his peers to raise money for school improvements and his school formal. His story is one of resilience and drive to leave a positive mark. I congratulate Fatusama on his recognition at this year's training awards and his positive impact on the community. He serves as a positive example to young people everywhere.
